Mondiali Antirazzisti: joy of Saharawi chuldren, winner of kilometres cup. Ultras Casale: playing against asbestos
di l.m. - f.d.

Mondiali Antirazzisti, with its 204 teams on football tournament, tells every year a lot of stories, linked to projects, activities or simply to the life of participants.

Team Sahara Saharawi Junior, for example, is composed by children from Saharawi refugees camps, guests in Italy thanks to an exchange program with Emilia Romagna towns. For them – winner of Kilometres Cup, dedicated to teams coming from farthest countries – it was an unique experience. “Every year Mondiali is a very nice experience with our usual team – tells Fabio Campioli, Kabara Lagdaf association, in his thanks letter – but this year, the presence of the young Saharawi team made our participation wonderful. It was for the children attending, who were appreciated by the others, they rejoiced with us during “official” matches and friendly ones, they rejoiced for other teams’ victories, fully understanding the spirit of the manifestation. We and our children will bring these moments on our hearts, as well as the beautiful and touching closing ceremony, with the standing ovation for our children, asked to go on the stage with the other winners”.

Mondiali allows to tell beautiful stories, but also to tell about “les beautiful” ones. Stories full of messages and “struggles” during since long times ago. So, the team Cinghiali del Casale (that means Wild boars of Casale), ultras of Piemonte team Casale Calcio (Casale Monferrato – in Alessandria district), decided to play dressing a white shirt with the slogan “Eternit: giustizia!” (Eternit: justice!) and to give to challenger teams an Italian flag with the same slogan.

“This is the fifth year we come - they explain during the opening drink of the football tournament – and now we want to give a strong signal. Is the first time that a so big company is under process, and we have to do everything possible to obtain justice for dead people and their families. That’s why we organise in Casale Monferrato second edition of tournament Ultras against asbestos”. In fact in these days is running in Turin the process seeing the multinational enterprise Eternit, owner of several factories working with asbestos (among them the Casale Monferrato one), ignoring for tens of years all laws about job safeness and slag disposal, even if it was already scientifically proved the connection between asbestos and tumour as mesothelioma. Eternit is charged for 2.889 deaths in several European countries, among workers and people leaving close to the factory.
